Every home has a story — whether it spans generations or is only just beginning.
The story of this home
John Cavill’s house
Stonemason John Cavill built this Union Street house for his family on land extending towards Little Nicholson Street. Peter Reynolds describes a stone home arranged over three levels, with attic rooms lit by a narrow Gothic-arched window.
John and Mary Anne Cavill and their son William Henry lived here. The original front and side balconies had been removed by the time of the 1978 account; the side alteration allowed adjoining No. 19 to be built. The journal does not supply a precise completion date.
