Stephen Street Ferry Wharf

Stephen Street Ferry Wharf was an important local waterfront transport point served by the Bald Rock Steam Ferry Company. Leichhardt Historical Journal No. 17 reproduces a photograph looking down Stephen Street towards the wharf and its waiting rooms. The source caption describes the main waiting room with a semi-circular corrugated-iron roof, built by 1881, and a gable-roofed Ladies Waiting Room to the left. The latter's verandah had subsequently been enclosed, possibly for use as a kiosk. The source does not prove the exact present-day site footprint. The original photographer and photograph date are not established in the journal caption.
