The story of this house

121 Beattie Street forms part of a pair of semi-detached cottages known historically as Broadley Cottages, constructed circa 1880–1881 by prominent Balmain builder, plasterer, alderman and later mayor George Clubb. The cottages were built on land originally forming part of Theodore James Jaques' subdivision of the Balmain Estate. Clubb adjusted the boundary of his adjacent residence, Clyde House (117 Beattie Street), to create sufficient frontage for the new cottages. The cottages were named after Broadley in Moray, Scotland, near Clubb's birthplace.

Description & Observations

The house has been significantly renovated interiorly, but the original Victorian facade remains intact, representing pretty much what it was when first constructed. The most recent renovation seem to have been done prior to 2020.
